On top of that, you can select the day of your choice for delivery such as Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday…you get the drift!

You are not bound by that, you may change at any time. My favourite day is Wednesday. Sounds just right for me, on “hump day”.

Reasons People Choose to Cancel

People choose to cancel their Goodfood membership, such to budget constraints, changing dietary needs, personal preferences and for me, redundancy and high cost for certain meals that shouldn’t be that expensive.

Let’s face it, I have used GoodFood myself for a while but it gets redundant and expensive after all the initial discounts.

Sometimes they will propose a recipe that only the bread will change, the sauce or the meat… A bit boring I’d say!

Step-by-step Guide How to Cancel Goodfood Subscription

You can send an email to the Goodfood customer support team, providing your account details and stating your intention to cancel.

Another option is to call Goodfood’s customer service hotline and speak to a representative who will guide you through the cancellation process.

Alternatively, you can cancel your subscription directly through Goodfood’s website by logging into your account and following the cancellation instructions.

If you have any questions about the cancellation process, Goodfood provides a comprehensive FAQ section where you can find answers to commonly asked questions.

Additionally, Goodfood offers various options for managing your account, such as pausing or modifying your subscription.

Can I Cancel my Subscription over the Phone or via Email address?

You might be sent into a goose chase if you select one of these options. These are not easily available and you might have to dig down a little bit to find any of them.

Using Goodfood’s Website for Cancellation

The best way is to use the website and start by logging in to your account with your credentials.

Step 1:

Once logged in, navigate to your name or login in the top right corner of the member section.

Step one how to cancel goodfood

Step 2:

Look for “Subscriptions” down the bottom and click on it.

Step two how to cancel goodfood

Step 3:

You have two (2) options here.

a) click on Pause (the button is so huge, they really don’t want you to leave them!) Pausing means you are still keeping your account with them BUT you will pause any deliveries to your door aka “skip week”. So no charge will be made to your choice of payment. It can be unpaused anytime.

b) click the tiny “Unsubscribe” in blue. (No worries! Nothing will happen until the next screen. You can click it safely)

Step three how to cancel goodfood

During this process, you may also be presented with additional options or offers – carefully review them before proceeding. But this is also part of my bonus and a little secret. If you have offers given, take them!

Usually, it will go around 35 to 45% off, which is very good! Rinse and repeat once you have used their discount!

Step 4:

Are you sure? Are you really really sure? Are you changing your mind? They really don’t want you to leave eh?

Ignore that nice big chunky blue-green button.

Once you have reviewed everything, confirm the cancellation and make sure to retain any relevant confirmation details.

This is where you may have again some sort of begging offers to remain with them! Take it if it looks good!

After Cancellation: What Happens Next?

Once you cancel, you should receive a confirmation email.

Your access to your account will be restricted, and no further charges will be made to your credit card (unless you have an order already on its way).

Additionally, the meal options will no longer be displayed on the app on Android or IOS.

Understanding Goodfood’s Refund and Cancellation Policy

If you find yourself in a situation where you need a refund, they allow refunds under certain circumstances.

However, it’s important to note that cancellation requests must be made before the weekly cutoff time to be eligible for a refund.

Once a cancellation is processed, refunds are typically issued within a specific timeframe. It’s worth mentioning that they reserve the right to refuse refunds in certain situations as outlined in their policy.

Additionally, it’s important to keep in mind that the cancellation policy may vary based on your location.

So if you’re considering cancelling, make sure to familiarize yourself with their refund and cancellation policy first.

Alternatives to Cancelling: Pausing or Modifying Your Subscription

Instead of cancelling, there are a few alternatives you can consider.

Goodfood gives you the option to pause your subscription temporarily, allowing you to take a break without fully cancelling and without being charged.

If you find that you need a little break or the menu doesn’t appeal to you on that specific week (which happens to me all the time), go back to your account and follow the same steps as if you wanted to cancel, but instead, push the button “Pause my deliveries” as shown again below.

Additionally, you have the flexibility to adjust your meal preferences to better suit your dietary needs. To enhance your meal kit experience, you can explore different recipes and add-ons offered by Goodfood.

If you need personalized assistance with modifying your subscription, you can always reach out to their customer service through their live chat. They are very good at giving you what you want (to a certain extreme)

What Other Options do I have if I’m not satisfied with Goodfood?

If you’re not satisfied with their service, there are several alternatives to consider.

Try other meal kit delivery services like HelloFresh, Chef’s Plate, WeCook, etc.

They work all with the same pattern. You take the huge discount at the beginning, pause or cancel, then move on to the other.

Eventually, they will get back to you and beg you to come back…this is where you will ask for more discount! It works.

Bonus paragraph: My dirty little secret

Let’s face it, Goodfood and other meal kit companies are all about marketing. How do they survive? I have no idea but they don’t make much money with people like me!

Here we go:

Secret #1: When you receive your meal kit, check EVERY ingredient from the burger buns down to a single leaf in a bag of salad. Do you see a crushed bun? Do you see a swapped ingredient? (yes it happens! Ie.: mixed green salad has been replaced by spinach), is your salad all wet? Well, just go on your application and start chatting away with customer service! Complaint and ask for a free meal or a discount. It works all the time.

Secret #2: Do you have a close parent, a friend or a granny who will never use that service? Do you get where I’m going? Create another account, use your own code (as a reference) or use an invitation card with big discounts for a new account and use the address of these people! It works for HelloFresh, Chef’s plate, etc. You have to use another credit card and a new email. Too easy eh? So now you may have too many meals for free! Make sure to keep track of all this in an Excel sheet.

Secret #3: Always use all the discounts, then go on PAUSE. Go on the chat and ask for another discount so you can try a little bit more their product. If it doesn’t, tell them you will go see another company. If it still doesn’t work, cancel and you will possibly get the “Don’t go! Here is a 30% just for you!” If not, just cancel and they will send you a nice “begging” email for you to get back, or better, they will call you on the phone! They did it for me and you can rinse them as much as you want, complain, ask for more! Go!

Results are not typical and might not work for you. Use common sense, and be super duper polite with the customer service, they are there to help you and they are paid to make you happy.

Is it legal? Of course, it is.

Conclusion

In conclusion, cancelling your Goodfood subscription can be done in a few simple steps. If you encounter any issues such as swapped ingredients or a wet salad, don’t hesitate to reach out to their customer service through the application for a resolution or compensation.

Another secret you can utilize is creating another account using the details of someone who will never use the service, like a close parent, friend, or granny. By using your own referral code or an invitation card with significant discounts, you can enjoy more free meals. Just remember to use a new email and credit card for this method.

Always take advantage of all available discounts before going on pause. If you feel like you’ve exhausted all the possible discounts, don’t be afraid to chat with their customer service and ask for another discount.

Express your interest in trying more of their products but emphasize that you might consider exploring other options if they can’t accommodate you.

In some cases, even if you decide to cancel your subscription, Goodfood might try to entice you to stay by offering a special discount as a last-ditch effort.

This is where you can truly leverage your negotiation skills and see if they are willing to sweeten the deal for you.
